The Autel EVO Nano+ is one of the best options for drone novices to learn to fly drones and do drone photography. Mastering flying the EVO Nano+ mini drone is easy, and this guide will walk you through each step to ensure a smooth and successful launch.
Before you try to get this mini drone airborne, my first piece of advice is to learn the drone remote control buttons and functions as well as the remote app interface instructions so you don’t look down in panic while flying remote control.
What does a newbie need to fly a drone for the first time?
- Your Autel EVO Nano+ Drone
- The remote control is fully charged
- Mobile phone fully charged
- Extra batteries in case of emergencies
- Open and safe flight space, away from obstacles and crowds
Step 1: Charge and Prepare:
The battery determines the smoothness of the drone's flight. Fully charge the battery and carry replacement batteries.
The Nano+ drone remote control does not have a screen. To use your mobile phone to control the drone, please download the drone application Autel Sky APP in advance.
Step 2: Environmental Check:
Choose a wide, open area without obstructions such as trees, power lines, buildings or people. Avoid flying indoors or near large bodies of water.
Ensure good visibility in clear weather conditions and moderate wind speeds.
Step 3: Unpack the drone, power on and calibrate:
Power on the remote controller first, then power on the drone. The aircraft indicator light flashes first and then stays on, indicating a successful connection.
Calibrate the compass using the method outlined in the user manual. This ensures accurate flight direction.
Step 4: Takeoff and Control:
Once the drone is powered on and calibrated, toggle the flight mode switch on the remote control to the desired setting (initial flight is usually camera and GPS mode).
Use the left control stick on the remote control to slowly accelerate and lift the drone off the ground.
Practice flying the drone at low altitude, using the right joystick to control direction and the left joystick to control altitude and descent.
Familiarize yourself with the controls and practice steady hovering before trying more advanced maneuvers.
Before starting to fly the drone remotely, you can keep the drone within sight for a pre-flight period to ensure that the drone is operating properly.
Step 5: Landing and Shutdown:
Use the left control stick to gradually reduce the throttle and gently land the drone on a level surface.
After landing, first turn off the power of the drone and then turn off the remote controller.
Disconnect the flight battery from the drone and store it in a cool, dry place.
Remember:
- Always put safety first and fly responsibly.
- Please read the Autel EVO Nano+ User Manual carefully before flying for detailed instructions and safety precautions.
- Practice in a controlled environment before venturing outdoors.
- Obey local regulations and airspace restrictions.
- By following these steps and practicing in a safe environment, you'll be ready to enjoy the thrill of flying your Autel EVO Nano+ drone in no time!
