Are you going to start drone flying? It is necessary to understand drone regulations and operator ID, remote pilot ID and remote ID.
Federal Aviation Administration rules:
Starting September 16, 2023, all drone pilots who need to register UAS must operate in accordance with remote ID rules. That is, all drones over 250g need to use direct/broadcast remote ID, otherwise they may face fines and suspension or revocation of their pilot license.
What is Remote ID?
Remote ID is an ID assigned to a UAS for remote identification. In simple terms, it is a signal sent by the drone to reveal its identity and location to others. Some mobile phone apps can even detect drone Remote ID signals and remind you that there are drones nearby.

How do I get my drone Remote ID?
Most drones produced after the FAA's new regulations have built-in Remote ID modules, and the drone serial number is the Remote ID.
Drones produced before the FAA's new regulations need to be indicated by firmware updates or installing a remote ID broadcast module on the drone.
Do Autel drones need Remote ID?
Autel drones cover both consumer and commercial drones, only the EVO Nano series is below 250g, does not require registration, and does not require Remote ID.
All Autel drones can broadcast Remote ID signals through firmware updates, without the need for a third-party Remote ID broadcast module.
What is an Operator ID?
The Operator ID is also known as: e-ID, UAS Operator ID, Operator Registration Number. This ID must be applied for at the Federal Aviation Administration (LBA) and indicates the operator or operator organization of the UAS. It must be stored physically and, if possible, digitally on the device.
What is a Remote Pilot ID?
According to EU drone regulations, the Remote Pilot ID is also known as: RP-ID, Remote Pilot ID, which is assigned to you as a pilot and is located on your Certificate of Competence (= A1/A3 drone pilot license) or Remote Pilot Certificate A2 (large drone pilot license).
Does the placement of an external Remote ID affect the drone GPS performance?
The drone's built-in Remote ID is usually located in the middle and rear end of the drone's fuselage and will not affect the drone's signal.
When placing the drone's external Remote ID module, you need to choose the ideal placement. For example:
1. Avoid areas close to propellers: Keep the GPS module away from the drone's propellers to prevent potential damage.
2. Stay away from electronic components: Avoid covering or getting too close to electronic components to maintain signal integrity.
3. Choose a convenient and visible location: Choose an easily accessible and clearly visible location for setup and maintenance.
4. Pay attention to weight balance: Do not hang it on one side alone, which will affect the drone's flight performance.
Will the drone's Remote ID turn on automatically?
Yes, drones with built-in Remote ID modules will automatically broadcast drone signals to prompt drone-related information and location.
