Autel EVO Lite+ vs DJI Mavic 3 Drone Comparison

Autel EVO Lite+ vs DJI Mavic 3 Drone Comparison

We know that Autel Robotics, as a rising star in the drone industry, has launched the EVO Nano series and EVO Lite series that are well-loved. Although the industry leader is still the DJI brand, here we can compare the Lite series with the DJI Mavic 3 to see how each performs.

First look at the EVO Lite+ drone. First, like the Mavic 3, it has an excellent sensor for a drone of its size. 20MP model in 1-inch format that captures video up to 5.7K. It even has 6GB of built-in storage to quickly load the plane and run.

The EVO Lite+ drone is very similar in size and weight to the Mavic 3 at 820 grams, although it is slightly larger so it can carry a larger battery and can theoretically achieve a maximum flight time of 40 minutes. Like the Mavic 3, the claimed range is wide, and the EVO Lite+ drone's 7.4-mile range is simply excellent.

Obstacle avoidance on the Lite+ is good, but limited to three directions (front, back, and down). If you're flying manually, then you need to watch your drone in time for obstacle avoidance, which becomes critical when you ask the drone to perform pre-programmed movements or track objects.

Autel Lite+ Night and Ultra Night Modes Available

Night Modes Photo Lite Plus
Autel was very interested in the low-light capabilities of the Lite+ drone's night and ultra-night modes. I find night mode interesting for photography, but in this sample image it makes the scene at dusk look a little unreal. By contrast, I was able to shoot video in near-pitch black Super-Night mode, and the results were impressive.

The Lite+ is great to use and fly with all systems running, remember to do a pre-flight inspection of your drone, it's very necessary. Complete all firmware updates, restart your aircraft, and you'll have a better flight experience.

DJI's Active Track and Autel's Dynamic Track

All pilots will be interested in the subject tracking shooting function of the picture. DJI's Active Track has matured, and both the Mavic 3 and Lite+ can avoid obstacles reasonably and accurately while tracking the subject.

Notably, obstacle avoidance becomes critical when you ask the drone to perform pre-programmed movements or track objects.

When we tested the Lite+'s Dynamic Tracking function, we were pleasantly surprised that the image capture was stable, the drone's image transmission was clear, and the three-way obstacle avoidance functioned well to track objects.

How does the DJI Mavic 3 Drone Perform?

Mavic 3 POI Tracking Evaluation
I have had mixed results for tracking POIs. Here I have the Mavic 3 do a track around a person on the beach. It walked most of the way, but then lost its way. Somewhat surprisingly, it does relock. This is technically impressive, but means that the resulting footage cannot be used in its entirety.

Mavic 3 Smart Home

After the Mavic 3 lost the person it tracked in the last video, I told it to go home. The resulting flight paths are pretty cool. It didn't go back the same way, and it didn't simply fly high and over everything. Instead, it takes roughly the same route back through trees that a human operator might choose. This is a huge improvement for people who lost their drones when the RTH wasn't delivered.

Mavic 3 GPS: Temporary bug or deal killer?
The Mavic 3 usually takes a long time to lock to GPS. Even after specifically looking for open spots like parking lots and beaches, it took me a few minutes. At first I thought it was after the drone was moved a long distance, but this happened to me even on my second flight from the same place. Unfortunately, it's not just me. The internet is full of the same complaints. I really hope this is fixable because it reminds me of GPS in the 1990s unlike any other drone I've flown.

Compare Video Options

The Mavic 3 can also record professional video in 10-bit A-Log color as well as provide recording capabilities with a "Log-style" profile. But usually this is a purchase for people with professional video needs, and DJI also offers the option to use it with the expensive but powerful Pro RC (remote control), which adds about $1,000 to the cost.

Autel regards the Lite+ as a "consumer" drone, so with 6k video, 20mp photos, with subject tracking, matching HDR high-definition camera, and the powerful functions of adjustable aperture, the Lite+ drone is undoubtedly more cost-effective drone.

There is no doubt that the Lite+ is a more versatile product than the Mavic 3. As a high-end drone, the Lite+ is constantly rolling out firmware updates to improve its own application. I would like to be an Autel tester to test my drone and learn new features. , in my opinion, Lite+ is a good choice.
